改善三大缺點
AVG 9 fREE 比以往版本改善最大的地方，便是改進了軟件的運行速度，去除上一版中速度底、跑得慢和百夠快三大缺點。在新版中，官方聲稱掃描病毒速度比！以往舊版快上一半，啟動時間減少一成，而佔用記憶體也有減少。即使在工作時進行全系統掃描，也不對電腦運行速度有重大影響，可見其效能上的確有所改善。
新加入 Link Scanner
在新版中，新增了 LinkScanner 這個元件。最大用處是掃描瀏覽器中正在使用的網址路徑，檢查路徑是否安全。如果遇上一些危險網站的連結，系統向用家發出警告，並阻止用家瀏覽該網站。目前 LinkScanner 支援 Google、Yahoo、百度等搜尋器，令用家可以更安全地瀏覽搜尋所得的網站。
防護力足夠
除了加入 LinkScanner 外，以往在各版中出現的各種元件都會在 AVG 9 Free 中出現。例如 Resident Shield 元件便能提供即時防護，一旦用家下載的檔案受到病毒感染，會即時提醒用家採取相應行動。而另一個元件 E-Mail Scanner，則可以為用家接收的郵件進行防護。例如 MS Outlook 這類直接下載電郵的軟件，E-Mail Scanner 便能先掃描郵件。以上功能，對一般用家來說，防護力已經很足夠。

The plot is centered on a fish-girl who lives in an aquarium in her father's underwater castle with numerous smaller sisters. When her father takes her and her siblings on an outing in his four-flippered submarine, she is driven by a desire to see even more of the world and swims away. She ends up stranded on the shore of a small fishing town, and is rescued by a boy named Sōsuke. After taking a great liking to her, Sōsuke names her Ponyo and promises to protect her forever. Meanwhile, her father, Fujimoto, is looking for his daughter, upset that she ran away and believes the humans kidnapped her. He calls his wave spirits to return Ponyo to him. Sōsuke is heartbroken by this, and goes home with his mother, Lisa (or "Risa" in some translations), who tries to cheer him up, but to no avail. Ponyo and her father have a confrontation, where Ponyo refuses to let her father call her "Brunhilda". She declares her name to be Ponyo, and voices her desire to become human because she has started to fall in love with Sōsuke. Her father silences her with difficulty and goes to summon Ponyo's mother. Meanwhile, Ponyo, with the help of her sisters, breaks away from her father, and uses his magic to make herself human. This causes an imbalance in the world, which in turn results in a huge storm. Riding on the waves of the storm, Ponyo goes back to visit Sōsuke. Lisa, Sōsuke, and Ponyo stay the night at Sōsuke's house, hoping the storm will be over, whereupon Lisa leaves the house to check up on the residents of the nursing home where she works.
