Shia LaBeouf is very good in this film and helps hold it together with Billy Bob Thornten, who actually does a good job in this film. Overall, this film is a good movie to watch with friends.

Hood and Young are called to Seattle to investigate the discovery of 19 containers of biomedical waste, all buried in various shallow graves, and all buried with crucifixes attached to the containers. And inside each large jar are the gruesome remains of an unborn fetus. The local law enforcement has caught a suspect who confesses that he had been paid to incinerate the contents of the containers, but once he realized what was inside, he couldn’t bring himself to do that, hence the hurried burials.
When Hood and Young arrive on the scene, Hood discovers that the DNA records of each fetus are identical to one another. The only explanation is an attempt at human cloning. Now Hood and Young, aided by a local detective, begin searching for the mastermind behind the illegal cloning work. At the same time a young woman, very pregnant with her second child, is being cared for by an ethically challenged doctor and nurse team. Yes, there’s a connection.

For the life of me, I still can't figure out why Traitor is getting such poor promotion, but if I were the studio I'd be trying my damnedest to get people into the theatre to this. It has got a great cast in Guy Pearce, Jeff Daniels and the lead role by Don Cheadle. Don't be fooled by the commercials that say that "Traitor is this year's Bourne Ultimatem", because this is clearly not true. While there is plenty of mystery and conspiracy to go around, this is a completely different situation that really makes the viewer think at the end of the movie. The great thing about Traitor is the fact that politics aren't heavy-handed or one-sided a la Syriana or any of the other cookie cutter political thrillers out there. The film really allows the viewer to draw their one conclusions based their own individual moral compass. I would say that anyone who is NOT looking for just another Michael Bay-esquire popcorn flick should totally love Traitor.

The introduction that outlines the history between Saudi Arabia and the United States alone proves as much: no matter how intense that action was (and it was very much so), the movie itself was a fairly level-headed look at the current situation. You are drawn into the action from the very beginning, but from there it does not sink into an FBI team shooting up Saudis. There is actually an INVESTIGATION, with political interests in the background all the while. An excellent action movie with more than a little thought put into it, but not for the faint of heart.
