Kid Nation was a 2007 Emmy-nominated controversial American reality tv show, following 40 kids aged 8 to 15yo, on location at the Bonanza Creek Movie Ranch, a privately owned town built on the ruins of Bonanza City in New Mexico, just south of Santa Fe. In the show, the children try to create a functioning society in the town, including setting up a government system with minimal adult help and supervision.



Episode 1 - 40 kids from across America arrive in Bonanza City for 40 days and are immediately struck by the lack of comforts in their new home. Friendships emerge and teamwork ensues, issues arise and the first Town Council convenes. The first Gold Star, worth $20,000, is awarded on the series premiere.



The districts had one hour to fill three large bottles with their own district-colored water by carrying oil gushers to certain spouts on the ground. All four teams completed the task in the allotted time. The Town Council chose seven more outhouses over an old fashioned television.



Gold Star for Sophia: The Town Council recognized Sophia's work ethic in the kitchen. It was a fairly easy decision for the Council, despite Sophia's voicing of complaints over what she saw as problems in the kitchen.



Exit: Jimmy: Being the youngest contestant, Jimmy became homesick and decided to leave Bonanza, even though Cody, Laurel, and Campbell tried to convince him to stay. His decision came after three days of debate over his abilities versus what was expected of him.

Walt and his family wait for news after he undergoes a PET-CT scan. Jesse's relationship with Jane is put on hold when he and Walt head to the desert for a marathon of cooking.

Sarah, her Chinese husband Jason and their 11yo super cute son Sammy, have their prosperous life in go-go modernday Shanghai interrupted by a mysterious family death back home and return to Vancouver's Chinatown. There they experience culture shock in reverse.
Something strange is going on. Sammy starts seeing ghosts and then falls gravely ill. Traditional western medicines dont work and Sarah turns to a mysterious pharmacist who warns that her son is being held in a death grip by a living corpse. And once the sun rises the next day, the last day of Ghost Month, Sammy will be lost forever.

Sammy is a born psychic like his denying mother, although he finds himself the innocent target of malevolent spirits. From there the terror mounts in a very scary atmosphere....

An extremely well mounted and well written supernatural thriller, both quietly eerie and scream-inducing horrific. Believable characters and no cheap thrills -- any horror moments are clearly explained in this one, as part of its intricate plot. Sometimes to a fault -- the odd snatch of dialogue is a bit too explanatory -- but it feels like a great horror director hit-and-missing at a great skill, in his movies to come.

An outstanding movie, gripping and wonderful filmed, about coming of age but more in depth about what and how the changes came about. The odd stranger that comes to the small town gives two boys a new way to look at people and things. He guides them. The way the boys perceive the town and how the stranger does also changes the town. It comes full circle for one of the boys as he loses part of his childlike hope and youthfulness in a way but is able to get it back when he comes to understand the things that occurred during that time about that particular summer and small town life.The time period was transcendent but it worked. The story is great, unique and could have happened in any time period. The Cinematography is superb, shot in 35mm film. The look is marvelous. It is refreshing that it was not all digital like so many movies. The area they filmed in has a great look and feel. So a very interesting movie and a bit twilight zone like but not overly.

Childish wonderment turns to despair as the boys' eyes open to the true nature of the world around them. That understanding, and Eli's hidden purpose, threaten the existence of the entire town.

Latter days is the best gay movie of the homosexual genre. Most of the films entail sappy stories, one night stands, while Latter Days actually contains male affection beyond the kiss in the dark. The films emotional journey is what sets it above the rest in the genre, with a story of such intense passion and love, and the torture that it can bring.
