The 10th season of the Bleach anime series is named Arrancar vs. Shinigami arc. They are based on Tite Kubo's Bleach manga series, and adapt the 32nd through 36th volumes of the manga over 19 episodes. The episodes' plot continues to follow Ichigo Kurosaki's and his friends' battle against the Espada, the strongest members of former Soul Reaper captain Sōsuke Aizen's army, to rescue Orihime Inoue. Episodes 204 and 205 are filler episodes bringing back the Kasumiōji Soul Reapers from Season 9, and features a soccer game. Episode 206 onwards returns to the manga storyline with the flashback arc 'Turn Back The Pendulum'. The last two episodes of the arc are filler, following the events back in Karakura Town after Ichigo and his crew went to Hueco Mundo.

The spiritual energies of Kensei and all of his squad have vanished, and this sparks a now serious situation in Soul Society. An emergency captain's meeting is held to determine who will go to oversee the situation that is growing worse by the day. Although Kisuke appears late and pleads his case to go, Yamamoto denies him. Instead, Shinji, Aikawa Love, Rose, Kyoraku's lieutenant Yadomaru Lisa and Hacchigen, from the Kido Corps, are dispatched. In the woods, Hiyori is attacked by a grotesque and powerful hollow that is revealed to be Kensei. Shinji arrives to save her, along with the rest of the captains, but soon Mashiro appears, also transformed into a hollow and attacks the group. Hacchi manages to bind both Mashiro and Kensei, but the latter is able to escape by using brute strength alone. The situation begins to look grim for everyone. Meanwhile, Kisuke is torn at his decision to send Hiyori out alone and defies orders that he is not to go, using a cloak that completely masks his energy. Before he can set out, Tessai Tsukabishi, also of the Kido Corps, stops him and insists that he not go alone. The two then prepare to set out together.

Episode 01 The Beginning:

In 1840, Ambrosius Vallin is engaged to marry Grace Neville in the island town of Dante's Cove. When she discovers Ambrosius being buggered by his valet, she uses her powers as the Avatar, or high priestess, of one sect of the mystical religion called Tresum to kill the valet. Grace imprisons Ambrosius in the sub-basement of her home, cursing him with advanced age. The only way he can win his freedom is through the kiss of a handsome young man.
In the present, Kevin moves to Dante's Cove to be with his boyfriend Toby, after moving out of his abusive home. He moves in with Toby in Grace's old house, now the Hotel Dante, along with Toby's lesbian artist friend Van and Adam, Toby's childhood friend who's a straight "trust fund brat." Kevin begins seeing visions and hearing voices calling him by name.
During a party, Kevin is drawn to the sub-basement and finds Ambrosius. Ambrosius kisses him, regaining his youth and freedom. Ambrosius uses his own Tresum powers, learned while he was in captivity, to force Kevin to cut his own wrist, landing Kevin in the hospital.
