It starts with a death at a party after a stoned rich kid wanders in front of a car driven by yet more stoned rich kids, and that sets the scene for a whole lot of beautiful, stoned rich kids to mess up their lives while their stoned parents avert their eyes. The Informers of the title are a really, really bad British band, bad in the way only self important 1980s music could be truly awful, complete with floppy Flock of Seagull hair cuts and wailing tone deaf meaningless lyrics. They arrive in LA for a gig, with a drugged out lead singer who has a habit of picking up under age one night stands (of either gender) and stumbling drunk off stage half way through songs. He has an ex wife who is seeing a video maker, who may or may not be a male prostitute and is sleeping with both a movie mogul's estranged wife, her son Graham and Graham's girlfriend Christie. Christie appears allergic to clothing. The movie mogul is pursuing a TV presenter who is desperately trying to shake him off (Ryder) while also attempting to get back in with the wife because he can't afford the divorce. In other words, there's a lot of complex intergenerational and multi gender bed hopping going on. But everyone is very beautiful and very blond.
Graham is dealing drugs, drifting from party to party with the beautiful but zombie-like Christie and an entourage of hangers-on constantly high on cocaine. Christie is getting sick but no one knows why. Mysterious fevers and nausea, odd bruises marring her otherwise perfect body. Somewhere in his drug addled mind, Graham begins to realize that all is not well and that maybe the lifestyle could be more meaningful, and that something serious may actually be wrong with Christie. But can anyone get their act together long enough to do anything about it? At one point Christie justifies her life style to Graham, by telling him not to worry, after all she's on the pill. On the fringes of it all are the hard scrabble poor people trying to make a living in tough

Welcome to a hectic world of sexual adventures, triumphs, love, scams and a fair bit of crime on a rough Manchester housing estate...

The Gallaghers receive a letter from Liam's school summoning both his parents to the head teacher. With Monica gone, the family are forced to pull together and appear conventional - with Norma literally taking up Monica's role.
When they learn that Liam has earned a special scholarship, conflicts arise over who will be a responsible chaperone. To everyone's surprise Frank steps up. But could his actions jeopardise Liam's chances of a brighter future?
Patrick becomes increasingly agitated as Mimi takes control of his addiction. Sticking to him like glue she is determined to help him get off the smack.
Tension between Jamie and Karen reach breaking-point when Karen sacks Jamie. Jamie won't go quietly and demands his share of The Jockey in cash.
Meanwhile, Mickey gets caught with his hands somewhere they shouldn't be and Kelly recruits a skint Meena to do Shane's physio. Will Meena's work become too physical?

Now that Visual Studio 2005 has been officially released to the world, the floodgates for related books and products have opened. Major publishers have launched their collections of subject-matter expert interpretations of VS 2005 and the shock and awe affect of so many titles from which to choose can be overwhelming at times. In an effort to differentiate between the sea of .NET 2.0 titles, several publishers, including Microsoft Press, have approached the market with more creative names than simply pasting ASP.NET 2.0 somewhere in the book?s title.

Such is the case with Douglas Reilly?s Programming Microsoft Web Forms. Even though the title alludes to a possible deep dive into the internal workings and best practice optimizations of ASP.NET Web page delivery, the book is really nothing more than an ASP.NET 2.0 new-feature tutorial in action. As such, there is little new information in this book that hasn?t already been discussed in detail by other ASP.NET 2.0 titles. In fact, the book could have been renamed ASP.NET 2.0 Step-by-Step, but that would have conflicted with another Microsoft Press title with the same name, at the same price, and which, unlike Programming Microsoft Web Forms, includes a CD-ROM of the book?s code.

This 300+ page book is separated into eight chapters and an appendix, and features all code examples in C# syntax. Chapter 1 is the obligatory VS 2005 IDE orientation and IIS configuration. Chapter 2 reviews the new, predominantly user interface, controls in ASP.NET 2.0. The third chapter covers Web form layouts via HTML tables, CSS, themes and skins, and Master Pages. This chapter touched on a few helpful hints for dealing with controls and text on a Web form and placing them in just the right order for a more effective user presentation.

The next chapter briefly orients readers with Microsoft Web Parts. Chapter 5 dives into data binding using the DataSource, GridView, DetailsView, and MultiView controls. Chapter 6 discuss
